A candidacy for Hermano Mayor that came down to a single June afternoon.

The Hermandad Sacramental de la Esperanza de Triana was founded in 1418, has its home in the Capilla de los Marineros and goes out in procession in the Madrugá, the early hours of Good Friday. On 30 June 2026 it was electing its Hermano Mayor (the brotherhood's elected head) from two candidacies, and Feliciano Fernández's, under the slogan "La Esperanza de todos", had only a few weeks left to make its case to the members entitled to vote. His programme spoke of social action, of looking after the brotherhood's older members, of heritage, of training and of the place of young people. He won the chapter vote with 2,065 votes to 1,374. At Hüan we designed and built the campaign website in WordPress: the programme across 18 areas, the candidate and his board, the electoral process with its countdown, and the Buzón de la Esperanza, a mailbox for listening to every member.

The brief

A candidacy for Hermano Mayor is decided in a few weeks and before a very specific audience: the brothers entitled to vote. It needed a site that told the whole programme without overwhelming, and put a face to the candidate and his team. It also had to explain the electoral process with clear dates. The cabildo takes place on 30 June 2026 in the Capilla de los Marineros. That date sets the pace for the whole site. We designed the website so that every visit ends in an action: reading the programme, meeting the team or writing in. That last part mattered: the campaign could not be one-way.

Green, gold and a serif

We started from the brotherhood's colour: a deep Esperanza green that fills the whole screen. Over it, a gold reserved for whatever needs to stand out: buttons, labels, icons, the slogan and the hairline rules. For headlines we chose Lusaton, a high-contrast serif with the classical feel a brotherhood calls for. Body text is set in DM Sans, which reads well on mobile and switches to italics for quotations. The emblem, an anchor topped with a cross inside a fine-lined diamond, goes in white in the header. For the Buzón de la Esperanza we switched to a purple that sets that listening space apart from the rest.

Inside the website

We built the site in WordPress with Elementor Pro, so the campaign team can update it without touching code. The programme is divided into 18 areas, each with its own icon and its own page. The home page lists them as cards and links to the full programme. The governing board sits in a grid: 19 people with photo, role, name and membership number, each with their own profile. The electoral process is told in ten dated milestones, from the electoral roll to the swearing-in. A fixed bar along the bottom carries the countdown to the cabildo and the six social channels.

Listening to the brothers

The Buzón de la Esperanza turns the website into a two-way channel. Any brother can send a suggestion, a query or a request with just two required fields: type of query and message. A dropdown with nine options, from Patrimonio (heritage) to Caridad y asistencia social (charity and social welfare), classifies each message. We placed it in purple at the foot of the pages, so it stands apart from the green elsewhere. The candidate's letter, dated in Triana in May 2026, has its own page, reached from the home page. The contact email sits in the footer.
